Day 1: Auckland arrival–Ferry to Waiheke Island (White sand beaches, wineries and local sea food)

You will be met on arrival at Auckland International Airport by your Aroha NZ Tours Representative, and transferred to your accommodation in our luxurious vehicle. Begin your tour in Auckland, a city of harbours, islands, beaches and volcanic hills. Enjoy an excursion to nearby Waiheke Island, renowned for its beautiful landscapes, excellent vineyards and fine restaurants. With tastings at our best boutique wineries, the secrets of Waiheke's stunning world-wide success in fine red wines will be revealed to the interested visitor. Take a private wine tasting tour to the most respected wine-yards of the area. You'll come away with a deep appreciation of the vintner's art and an understanding of the territory, the weather and the tides of tradition which make up this art. Day 2: Waiheke Island
Enjoy your first full day in “Aotearoa” New Zealand. There are many activities to choose from. Waiheke Island is renowned for its diversions from city life. Island life means beaches, golf, horseback riding, arts and crafts shops, bars, cafés, restaurants, world-renowned vineyards and olive-groves. For water-lovers there is swimming, diving, kayaking, fishing and sailing. And for those willing to leave land and sea behind, why not take a scenic flight or even a tandem paraglide?(Optional and extra charges) At the lodge itself you can take a stroll along our own bush walk down to the bay or just laze on your private patio. You can take a dip in the chest-high Jacuzzi, have a sauna, or treat yourself to a massage, beauty therapy, or homeopathy from our in-house therapist. Or Highly recommended: (Optional and extra charge) We can organise a private charter vessel to take you for a cruise in the Auckland harbour and the Hauraki Gulf. The classic gentleman’s luxury 47 foot launch gives you a chance to experience the “City of Sails” first hand. Day 3: Auckland – Waitomo Caves - Lake Taupo (Glow-worm caves, Private charter boat /cruise on Lake) With private driver - driving distance 3h
In the morning, we travel south through the lush green rural farm land of the Waikato region, the rich and fertile pastoral land of the Waikato is one of New Zealand’s major dairy producing and horse breeding areas, and host to incalculable stands of exotic timber. One of the major attractions of the Waikato region is the famous Waitomo Caves (translation: "where the water disappears into a hole in the ground"). The caves are perhaps one of the finest natural attractions in the country, with their vast unique caverns and eerie stalactite and stalagmite formations home to the thousands and thousands of constellations of glow-worms. In the afternoon take a private charter trip on the nearby Lake in Taupo. A luxury vessel can take you to the many isolated coves and bays fringing the edges of the great lakes. Here you can fish for Rainbow trout, swim and picnic near the beautiful crystal-clear water. The area is home to some of the finest Rainbow and Brown trout in the world. The challenge of landing one can be met with the assistance of your own fishing guides. (3h)
Highly recommended (Optional and extra charge, instead of Waitomo Caves): In the afternoon we can arranged a helicopter flight and landing on an active volcano “White Island (optional and extra charge). Situated 50 kilometres offshore, this active island volcano constantly emits a cloud of steam and periodically erupts to a greater extent expelling volcanic ash several thousand metres into the atmosphere. (This is the most active volcano in New Zealand) The main vent is below sea level and protected by crater walls. You can walk right inside its main crater just above sea level with a minimum of physical effort and without undue risk. This allows you to experience at first hand nature's immense power as gas and steam burst up from far below the Earth's crust. Day 4: Lake Taupo (4WD day trip to the Kaimanawa Range, Cultural experience) with private guide- driving distance 4h return
This takes you on a Māori bush journey back through the ages, as you learn about the land, the history and significance of Māori Kai (food).The day culminates in a delicious Hangi feast using authentic Māori gathering techniques and cooking methods in this great outdoor wilderness; incorporating elements of the Native Bush and the Native Kitchen experiences. Your personal guide Tom will share traditional knowledge, legends and stories as the day unfolds. From Tamau Pa you have exclusive access to a magnificent native wilderness. This wilderness has remained unchanged for thousands of years. With unspoilt views and breath-taking natural beauty you can explore the tranquil sub-alpine homeland of the Tuwharetoa Iwi (tribe). Take the opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna, how the Māori utilised it and how they lived from the land and what Nature provided. The area was used as a trading route for centuries before the Europeans arrived as tribes traded seafood and valuable rocks used to make tools and weapons. Discover the region’s significance to its Ngati Tuwharetoa kaitiaki (tribal caretakers) as you walk the land and learn about the legends and history. Day 5: Taupo–domestic flight to Wellington – Pallister Bay (city tour) with private local guide - driving distance 2h
You will be picked up from your accommodation to be taken to the domestic Airport in Taupo to take a flight to Wellington. Arrive in Wellington, the political and cultural capital of New Zealand and one of its most attractive and interesting cities. Enjoy a private tour of the city’s highlights Spend your time strolling around the many shops and galleries the city has to offer. Climb aboard the famous Wellington Cable Car which takes you up the steep terraced divide to the luxuriant Botanic Gardens which allows you a spectacular 360 degree view of Wellington city. In the afternoon you are being transferred to Palliser Bay. There, spend several days at a sprawling seaside estate located on a secluded 5,000-acre sheep station. Again relax and get pampered with an indoor massage or swim in the indoor pool. (Optional and extra charge) Accommodation: Palliser Bay - Wharekauhau Lodge (superior)

Day 6: Palliser Bay (4wd sheep station tour)
No visit to Wharekauhau is complete without a tour of this classic Romney sheep station. Explore the far reaches of Wharekauhau Country Estate in four-wheel drive comfort. Our farm tour features all the activities which make up New Zealand’s legendary farming heritage, including sheep shearing and sheep dogs in action. (2h) In the afternoon you options are multiple. Travel up Lake Onoke to the Ruamahunga River by jet boat , travel along the black sand beaches with your own 4WD quad bike, try yourself at Clay target shooting or Archery or discover the best spots to fish (surfcasting). Day 7: Wellington departure driving distance 2h
Your guide will take you to your departing flight in Wellington.
